While many would like to look ahead to 2020 and leave last year in the past, there are those who will always look back with a keen sense of appreciation following the results of the 888Poker Tournament where many walked away richer than they had anticipated on. Last year’s event was a sensational play and for those lacking in luck, they made up in talent. Here we take a look at the winners of the tournament and some of the highlights that set this poker tournament apart from the previous games played under the same title.
The outcome of each Main Event holds a key title winner and the list has finally been released by 888Poker, find out who won and who had one of the best years in history.
The first term of the year began with the end to the very first Main Event of the year. Out of the nine winners, Darius Neagoe walked away the richest. The event held exactly 505 entrants and generated an impressive prize pot of €387,638 which was shared amongst the 9 winners. Darius Neagoe walked away with €62,300 and the finalist Aldo Monteleone, hailing from Italy, walking away with a cash prize total of €7,020. The players to take second place was Bogdan Nicolae, the Romanian walked away with €59,900, a close call to the first prize pool reward. Following hot on the heels of the Romanian was China’s Zhiping Zeng, taking third place the poker player happily claimed his share of the winnings which totalled €33,960.
The second Main Event was held in Barcelona and 888Poker aired the entire event live, making this one of the most remarkable poker events of 2019. Under the spotlight was Gabriele Rossi who took the majority of the tournament of the cash prize pool walking away with €110, 00.
Casino Barcelona held the event and rewarded runner up Cornelis de Jong from the Netherlands with a whopping €80,000. Third place was taken by Kristian Larsson from Norway and the Norwegian pocketed €55,000.
The June 2019 Main Event held exactly 551 entrants making for a long run into the finals. The buy-in stood at €1,100 and just made it past the expected amount of €550,000 by €1,000 totalling up to €551,000.
Gabriele Rossi also proved his talents at the WSOP (World Series of Poker) event held annually in Las Vegas exactly a month later after claiming a prize package from 888Poker valued at €12,600 to the Main Event winner.
Coming into the third quarter of the year was the 888Poker Main Event held in August last year was Vasiliy Tsapko who earned himself first place and took home the biggest portion of the prize pool. The Main Event took place not too long after the WSOP and even though there is more hype around the WSOP event, Tsapko drew attention when he took just over €5,000. The runner up Leonid Semenyuk walked away second and shortly behind the Russian tallying up 4,463,200. The third prize was taken by Ukrainian Maksym Lavrov and coming in last was Vartan Manucharyan.
The event wasn’t as big as expected as the location was in Russia at Sochi but with the anticipation mounting for the 888Poker final Main Event on the horizon, there was much to be excited for.
The day had finally come and the final Main Event held an air of excitement unlike any other before its time. This is the moment onlookers had been waiting for, the winner of the last 2019 888Poker event.
Adrian Constantin took the spotlight as the talented player won at London’s Aspers Casino Westfield Stratford City. The prize pool was an impressive total of £500,000 which is guaranteed to players buying in at the required price of £1,100. But when there was a total of 518 competitors buying in to compete, the prize pool rose to £512,820 which held a collective gasp for those running in the competition.
The tournament began in November and ended in the early week of December which held the first place for Adrian Constantin when the professional poker player walked away with the first-place prize of £100,000. Not only did Constantin win the cash prize but the player has landed himself a seat at the 2020 WSOP by coming in at number one and claiming the prize package which includes a seat to one of the most coveted tables in the world, the WSOP table in Vegas.
In a strange turn of events, the same Romanian player had actually managed to secure his seat at the final 2019 888Poker event by winning an online satellite tournament at a small buy-in of just $33, 00!
Following in the footsteps of the Romanian was Leon Louis who came in second and directly behind him in third place was Manuel Bueno. Last place finalist was Bhavin Khatri who hails from the UK, making the United Kingdom a proud country for a man of his talents. Khatri walked away with £10,000 and more support from his fans than he had going in. The player showed talent and patience and is expected to reappear in the 2020 888Poker Main Events if luck looks kindly upon the professional poker player.
