The professional Swiss tennis player Roger Federer who is ranked third in the world in the men’s singles tennis by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) just demonstrated that he is powerful player to reckon with on the field after defeating Novak Djokovic during the finals of the ATP.
According to Daniela Hantuchova and Greg Rusedski, the only reason why Federer is playing at the top level is because of Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal.
It has been said that Federer who holds the title of being the 20th Grand Slam champion had appeared rather sluggish when he took on Dominic Thiem with his first match. Then again, they say that Federer was much more comfortable on the field when competing against Matteo Berrettini and attained a well-deserved win.
To reach the semi-finals Federer must have known that in order to win the Number 2 ranked player Novak Djokovic, he needs to step up his game.
Federer and Novak Djokovic have played 49 matches against each over the past years. The Djokovic -Federer is the biggest competition in the history of the Grand Slam Tournament with an achievement of 16 matches played against each other. It has been recorded that the Swiss player hadn’t defeated the Serbian since the Finals of the ATP in 2015 and had their last playoff at the Wimbledon final in 2019.
Even though everything was in favour of Djokovic, Federer presented a thrilling display and overpowered the 5-time Finals Champion of the ATP.
It will be a blockbuster match-up when the two players Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer meet on the court during the next stage.

Rumours have it that Djokovic and Nadal have the age advantage over the Swiss tennis star Federer, although he is challenging all reason with his consistency over the years.
According to Rusedski, the former British number one player, Federer must show his gratitude to Djokovic and Nadal for his achievements since it is all thanks to the thrill of competing against the best tennis players that he made this far.
On Amazon, Rusedski stated that it is great that Federer, Djokovic and Nadal have been driving each other on. He expressed the fact that they have been competing in the same generation and it kept Federer in the game. Rusedski says that even though Federer is 38, he was kept active and becomes anxious about the two rivalry that might steal his records. He goes on by saying that Rafael has been pressed on since Novak is still on his tail. Lastly he pointed out that these three guys have forced themselves to lengthen their tennis careers.
Echoing the statement, Hantuchova adds that she doesn’t think that Federer would still be competing at this level if it was not for Novak and Rafael. She points out that the tennis world has been blessed and spoilt to still have all three of these extraordinary players bringing out the best of tennis at their age in this event.
